Awards Spotlight on Jan Lehman, 2019 Service to NAPO

Awards Spotlight on Jan Lehman, 2019 Service to NAPO Award (Recipient 1 of 2)

The Service to NAPO Award is bestowed to a NAPO volunteer, or group of volunteers, whose dedication and commitment to NAPO and their area of responsibility goes above and beyond. This award recipient is selected by the current NAPO President.

Jan Lehman had no idea she was about to be called to the podium when outgoing Board President Ellen Delap, CPO recognized her effort to enhance NAPO’s focus on productivity and honored her with the Service to NAPO Award at the 2019 NAPO Annual Conference in Fort Worth.

“Jan has been instrumental in further incorporating productivity into our association, as well as our marketing and public awareness,” Ellen noted.

We asked Jan a few questions to find out more about her road to achieving this accomplishment:

  • How did you feel, and what did you think, when you heard your name called for the award?

I was happy and pleased to accept the award, but I also felt that there were so many other deserving volunteers in the room who are so passionate about NAPO.

  • Tell us about your NAPO involvement.

As the owner of CTC Productivity, I have been deeply involved with NAPO since 2009. In addition to my commitments in NAPO Minnesota, I have made contributions to the NAPO Get Organized blog and the Stand Out podcast in my capacity as NAPO’s Marketing Chair. I have also served as co-lead for the Business Organizing & Productivity SIG and I’m a member of additional NAPO SIGs (Special Interest Groups).

  • What has been most rewarding about your NAPO volunteer experience?

Thinking back on my activities the past year, I have thoroughly enjoyed working with members of the Board and NAPO Headquarters and seeing the inner workings at the national level.  I have been very impressed by the intelligence, professionalism, and passion of the NAPO national leaders.  I hope to lead by example and encourage others to step up to leadership roles at the local and national level.

  • Describe your most gratifying NAPO or business experience.

I am especially proud of my strategic efforts to introduce a greater focus on productivity consulting in NAPO and to build the corresponding vision. I felt my work was having an impact.
