October Update from the President, Susie Hayman

NAPO’s vision is 20/20!

Be on the look-out, NAPO colleagues! The schedule for NAPO2020 Vision – Focus, Pursue, Become, our unique, one of a kind Conference experience, will be released later this month.

Our Conference Program Committee, under the leadership of Wendy Buglio, has created a not-to-be-missed experience, including an exciting opening program, unlike any other. You’ll get an insider preview of what the future of the productivity and organizing industry will be. There will be a mix of pre-recorded and live segments highlighting industry innovations, insights, live polls, conference-only connections, interviews, and trends from industry experts. Experience the “can’t miss” elements of the conference only available to attendees!

A wide range of concurrent sessions will be offered through Saturday afternoon, and some new and innovative opportunities will be available on Sunday:

  • Post-Conference Workshop – stay tuned for details
  • Mini-Coaching/Mentoring Sessions – watch for more information
  • Physical and mental activities to help you recharge

And, then there’s the President’s Reception — an evening of comradery, food, drink, and dancing to celebrate us! The theme of this year’s President’s Reception will be “Flip Flops and Lemon Drops!” So throw out those high-heeled shoes, and grab your flip flops and your brightest sunshine outfit. Watch for more details on this event!

NAPO2020 will be my 15th conference! I attended my first one in Boston and haven’t looked back. I’ve experienced it on so many different levels, from an attendee to a speaker, to a leader. There’s nothing like networking with my colleagues and friends and learning from the experts. The connections I’ve made, the lessons I’ve learned, and the skills I’ve gained have all impacted me both personally and professionally. Conference made me want to be a national leader, and being a national leader has made me want to be a better leader.

Some of you may feel that Conference is out of reach for you financially. Thanks to the generosity of Past President Barry Izsak, CPO who established the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship fund in 2012, many NAPO members have been given financial assistance to attend the NAPO  Annual Conference. Each year, a minimum of two scholarships are awarded, and this year’s application window is open until October 31, 2019. Click here to learn more and apply!

So, for those of you who are sitting on the fence – NAPO2020 is not the conference that you want to miss. The program is going to be spectacular, the attendees and speakers engaging, and the vibe NAPOtized! Earlybird registration of $729 is available through January 6, 2020, and a split payment 50% down option is available until that date.

If you are contemplating attending NAPO2020 as a first-timer, don’t overthink it. The only regret you may have is not attending.

If you have been attending the NAPO Annual Conference as long as I have or longer, I’d love to hear from you about what makes your conference experience unique, uplifting, invigorating or special. What makes you keep coming back, no matter where the Conference is?

I’m hoping to see all of you April 2-5, 2020 in Orlando!

Warm regards,

Susie Hayman, NAPO President

P.S. Don’t forget your flip flops!

  1. We attended NAPO National for the first time earlier this year, and I’m proud that ExactMats is now a national business partner.

I’ve planned, attended or spoken at dozens of conferences in multiple industries across the US, and Europe, and it struck me deeply that the NAPO conference is among the warmest I’ve seen.

There was a level of energy, espirit de corps and delight that reflected genuine commitment of dedicated, client-focused professionals. My company and I are committed to helping NAPO National, our growing array of Chapter partners, and each individual member achieve all you hope for in the organizer “movement” and in each of your practices.

  2. This will be my 4th consecutive but my 5th overall conference. I always ..always come back super charged and ready to apply what I have grasped during conference. I was a member way back when in 2000…left to go back in the corporate world but then started my business full time in 2014 when I re-joined NAPO..I will be with NAPO through retirement! whenever that will be! Thanks for all you do for us PO’s!!

  3. Since joining NAPO in 1996, I have attended every conference except one! That’s 23 uniquely incredible experiences and I plan to continue attending every year. Why? Because attending my first NAPO conference changed my life in a profound way. That’s why I established the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund….to provide the same life-changing experience for others who for one reason or another, might not be able to afford it. Nothing matches the NAPO conference experience for education and camaraderie. If you are “sitting on the fence” then get off of it, make the decision to attend and don’t look back. You will never regret it and that’s a promise!

    1. Thanks for sharing what Conference means to you, and thank you for providing the means for others to experience it through the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund.

  4. NAPO2020 will be my 19th conference. In a row. I haven’t missed one yet and don’t intend to, even when I become an Emeritus member. The reason? Conference is the one place where I get a sense of where I stand within my community. I have held a variety of leadership positions, have been a volunteer locally and nationally, and understand the amount of effort required to make NAPO such a great community for people who do what we do, but it is only at Conference that I gain a true understanding of how much our profession has grown and how much my own career has developed since 2001 (the year I became a NAPO member).

    1. Thanks so much for sharing your love of the NAPO Conference, Janine!
