How You and Your Business Can Shine with Online Video

Ever wonder how somebody gets on YouTube, shares great insights and makes it look so natural? In this week’s episode of Stand Out, How To Grow Your Organizational and Productivity Practice, host Sarah Karakaian talks with Brighton West to learn more about producing online video content and making the very most of it as a marketing tool. Brighton works with clients around the world, handling the technical and strategic side of online video and teaching them to record their own.

Growing your practice, presenting your expertise so you can help others succeed – this is the stuff that puts a smile on your face and food on the table. When it comes to sharing your expertise, online video can be one of the most effective avenues. In their conversation, Sara and Brighton talked about getting started. And they both could speak from experience – this week Sarah was not just the host, but also has worked with Brighton to build her own YouTube presence. From setting up a shot to optimizing to reach the widest possible audience, online video, there’s a lot to understand. Brighton West works specifically with coaches, authors and speakers, providing tools to make their online video presentations shine, and to understand the best way to position yourself and your specific skills and deliverables.

Something that came up more than once in the conversation was the idea of building trust. Brighton said it this way: “For people who are coaches, or people who give advice or invite clients into their home, or are invited into clients’ homes, video is a great way to create that trust factor even before that face-to-face interaction.”

One of the more “secret sauce” aspects of the interview came when Brighton talked about what video forms were best used on different platforms. For instance, live video on Facebook is a great way to engage. The algorithm is such that, working live on Facebook gets you a lot more exposure than just uploading a video you’ve already produced.

Sarah and Brighton also spoke about the point of these videos. For his own business, Brighton doesn’t produce a great number of strictly “marketing” videos. Providing videos that show pro tips or how-to’s are a great added value to your clients and potential clients. If someone contacts you with a question, you can say “Oh, I have a video about that,” and send them the link. It’s about creating a library of content that’s helpful for you to give to your clients. It’s a great way to market yourself without a heavy-handed sales pitch.

There’s much more packed into the interview – be sure you take a listen. To check out the podcast and subscribe so you don’t miss an episode, visit: https://napopodcast.com/.

Brighton started out behind the camera, making narrative and documentary videos. He soon learned that being on camera was more influential, beneficial and profitable than being behind it. So he overcame his on camera jitters and now helps his clients turn the camera on themselves. Brighton works with clients around the world, handling the technical and strategic side of online video and teaching them to record their own. His team then edits, uploads and optimizes the videos, then gets them ready for promotion, to position the coach as an expert in their niche.
