The whole approach he brings to content strategy and e-commerce at Smead is about giving potential clients something of value, gaining trust and respect, and then finding ways to bring them solutions through a purchase.

Sarah and John begin the conversation by talking about return on investment. Often we expect immediate ROI, but most marketing efforts don’t work that way. John knows that by providing solutions-based content to his potential customers, he is laying the groundwork for trust and an ongoing relationship.

Sarah and John talk about how a partnership between a company focused on organization products and a network of service providers in productivity and organization is a great match. But John always goes back to giving. He goes on to say “In today’s world there are no more secrets. Your client knows all about you before they even contact you. So it’s even more important than ever that we prove to people that we can actually help. We’re not just saying we can. We’re showing it.”

Sarah and John go on to talk about some of the specific ways to show clients you can be of help to them. With a taste of what you have to offer, they are more likely to take the next step and really work with you.
