It’s GO (Get Organized) Month!

Blog submitted by NAPO Member, Jocelyn Kenner. Jocelyn Kenner has been helping clients throughout the NY area organize their homes since 2007. Jocelyn is an active member of NAPO and ICD (Institute for Challenging Disorganization). Jocelyn’s varied experiences as an educator and her avocation as a performer contribute to her skills as a Professional Organizer.

January is GO Month in the organizing and productivity industry (Get Organized Month). How many of you have a resolution in the New Year to organize your home/office/time? You are not alone! Here in the northeast the subzero temperatures and bomb cyclone set the perfect stage for hibernating and organizing! Even my son’s college friend told me she spent the recent snow day cleaning out her childhood closet (I can just picture her mom smiling :-)!

Go Month is also the time of year when my NAPO colleagues and I DONATE our time and organizing talents to a local charity to help with organizing tasks and projects. Over the past few years, the NAPO Westchester Neighborhood group has donated their services to Furniture SharehouseGilda’s ClubThe Sharing Shelf, and My Sister’s Place. This year we had the privilege of working with Friends of Karen. This remarkable organization provides emotional, financial and advocacy support for children with a life-threatening illness and their families in order to help keep them stable, functioning, and able to cope.

The Executive Director of Friends of Karen, Judith Factor, and Volunteer Coordinator, Denise Tredwell welcomed our local group of enthusiastic Professional Organizers on Friday, January 5, 2018. We worked for several hours sorting, purging, organizing, labeling and redesigning storage in many areas of the office. They were thrilled with the results and we felt great knowing we helped a worthwhile organization that does so much to support families in their time of need.
